PROMAX OAT-RAGEOUS BAR

Taste Test: 8/10  Nutritional Test: 8/10 Overall Score: 9/10 CLASS - Energy Bar

Reviewed by Matt & Steve

If you're looking for a good all round pre-workout protein/carb snack, this really is a great choice. Promax really do make some great bars and this new release doesn't disappoint. The great thing about Oat-Rageous bars is that they contain whole grain rolled oats as the primary source of carbohydrates and combine them with high quality protein from whey and soy protein isolates.

Whole grains have a lower glycemic index than more refined carbohydrates and sugars, which are typically found in most other energy bars. Lower glycemic index carbohydrates reduce insulin response and improve endurance, according to numerous research studies. Rolled oats are an excellent source of fiber and are reported to have a cholesterol lowering effect.

The bars are available in Chocolate Coconut, Cinnamon Raisin, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter, which has a unique peanut butter coating.

Oat-Rageous bars make a great meal on the go. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch or as a snack. They also make an excellent pre- or post-exercise meal. Try eating half an Oat-Rageous bar thirty minutes prior to training and the other half after working out. This should provide more energy for your workouts and help spare muscle protein during training and promote muscle glycogen replenishment, protein absorption, muscle repair and growth afterward.

The Taste Test

Delightfully tasty, you can really taste the oats and flavors, especially in the Cinnamon Raisin and Peanut Butter bars we tested.  Nutritionally these are sound bars and the taste really does not disappoint.
