Hi
Guys,
This was
my most dedicated week so far. As time progresses, the changes outwardly
will not be as dramatic as first, however, internally, there’s a different
story…
I’m a very friendly, sociable person; I love a laugh and enjoy pursuing my
various antics. In the gym however, I try to maintain a slightly more
solitary, focused mindset. I have all day to relax, mess about (well, as
much as teaching a class of 16 year olds permits). So the gym really is a
point in my day where I can reflect, focus 100% and ensure that I’m giving
as much toward my training partner as he is to me.
Having a
training buddy is immensely helpful. I don’t think I’d have gotten this
far if I didn’t have someone to give me the kind of push that Chris has
over the weeks. I’m dedicated enough to verily go to the gym; come wind,
rain or shine. But having someone spot, and push you, that’s when barriers
can be broken, and even further progress can be made. Furthermore, I’m
only human. It’s a LOT easier for me to train regularly, now (because
dedication has become habit). But there are still days where I think to roll
over, and forget morning cardio, or to skip evening/afternoon workout.
Having someone going to the gym, at a predetermined time, relying on you,
really helps. I have never let Chris down, as he hasn’t for me. Our rest
periods are short and sweet, because we go through are sets one by one. Near
the end of a set, when you’re reaching failure, it becomes harder to
maintain good form, as all you can think about it reaching the magical final
number (which we call out to each other). I often find that I’m inclined
to use all sorts of tricks when I’m desperate to finish. For this reason,
constructive criticism helps, and also prevents potential short/long term
injuries.
Diet
is key to the program working. I’m constantly waging a war against
temptation; it’s me and me alone who decides what, when and how much I can
and will eat. At this stage in the program, I have noticed my body feeling
significantly firmer and the major source of remaining fat appears to be my
lower abdominal region. I sent an email last week to the Sixpacknow team
telling them about my cravings for sweet and rich things, such as
chocolates, nuts and nougat. I felt bad, but I wanted to be honest. Here’s
what Matt of Sixpacknow said................
